The sheer and opaque fabric sections move past each other. Their alignment gives you a range of light settings without fully raising the blind.

Move the opaque bands across the sheer openings to reduce light and add privacy. The blind can stay lowered while you adjust it.

Darkening performance
A blackout fabric label describes the material. The installed shade also has sheer bands, edges and operating clearances.
Discuss a darker-room setupOpaque bands reduce light when overlapped. Compare physical samples in your room; colour alone does not establish the fabric’s darkening performance.
Inside mounting needs operating clearance, so some edge light remains. An outside mount may give more overlap; we assess the trim and coverage.
Room-darkening zebra blinds do not form a sealed blackout system. For deeper darkness, discuss a continuous blackout roller shade, suitable side treatments or layered curtains.

Room-darkening zebra blinds reduce incoming light when the opaque bands overlap. They do not seal the whole window against light; some light can remain at the edges and around the operating hardware.
A blackout label describes the fabric or its opaque section. A zebra blind also has sheer bands and operating clearances, so that label does not guarantee total darkness across the installed window.
Some side clearance is normal, especially with an inside mount. The fabric must be narrower than the rail and clear of the opening. An outside mount may give more overlap; we check the trim and window conditions.
