Light, softened beautifully.

Made-to-measure sheers bring a calm, architectural softness to a room— filtering glare, adding daytime privacy and framing the view without taking away the light.

Quietly transformative

Sheers do more than look light.

The right sheer changes how daylight enters the room. Fabric density, colour, fullness and track placement all shape the final atmosphere.

01

Soft daylight

Reduce harsh glare and create an even, comfortable glow while keeping the room naturally bright.

02

Daytime privacy

Gently obscure the view from outside during the day without making the interior feel closed in.

03

Layered flexibility

Use sheers alone or pair them with lined drapery or a shade for stronger evening privacy and light control.

The finished look depends on proportion—not only fabric. Fullness, hem, track position and stack direction are planned together.

Made to fall beautifully

The difference is in the drape.

Fullness creates the rhythm of the fabric. We size the panels, choose the heading and position the hardware so the sheers form consistent waves and meet neatly at the centre or stack cleanly to one side.

Fullness Often designed around 2× fullness for a richer, more continuous wave.
Headings Ripplefold for a modern hotel look; pinch pleat for a tailored, classic finish.
Hardware Low-profile tracks, decorative rods, double tracks and motorized systems.

Layered light control

From daylight to evening privacy.

Sheers are strongest when the whole room is considered. Choose a single airy layer, or add a discreet second treatment for privacy and darkness after sunset.

Questions, answered

Before choosing your sheers.

Straightforward guidance on daylight, privacy, fullness, layering, motorization and care.

How much privacy do sheer curtains provide?

Sheers soften the view into a room during daylight while keeping the interior bright. At night, when indoor lights are on, visibility from outside increases, so a second layer is recommended when stronger evening privacy is needed.

Do sheer curtains block sunlight?

Sheers filter and diffuse direct light rather than fully blocking it. They can reduce glare and soften strong daylight, but they are not designed for blackout or complete room darkening.

Why is fullness important for sheer curtains?

Fullness determines the depth and continuity of the waves. Many sheer projects are designed around 2× fullness for a richer look, although the right ratio depends on the fabric, heading style, window width and desired stack.

What is the difference between ripplefold and pinch pleat sheers?

Ripplefold creates evenly spaced, contemporary waves and works especially well on tracks. Pinch pleat has a more tailored, traditional appearance. We recommend the heading after considering the room style, fabric and available stacking space.

Can sheer curtains be layered with blackout curtains or blinds?

Yes. Sheers can be installed on a double track with lined or blackout drapery, or paired with a roller shade. This keeps the room light and soft during the day while adding privacy and darkness when required.

Can sheer curtains be motorized?

Yes, compatible sheer curtain tracks can be motorized. One-way and centre-opening configurations may be available depending on the span, fabric weight, electrical access and selected system.

Should sheer curtains open from the centre or stack to one side?

A centre split creates a balanced look and works well for symmetrical windows. A one-way stack can keep a patio door or preferred view more accessible. The room layout usually determines the better option.

Do you measure and install sheer curtains in Toronto and the GTA?

Yes. Sunny Shutter provides free in-home consultation, professional measurement and installation for qualifying custom sheer curtain projects across Toronto, Scarborough and surrounding GTA communities.

How should I care for sheer curtains?

Use a soft duster or a vacuum with a clean brush attachment on low suction. Follow the specific fabric care instructions for spot cleaning or professional cleaning, and avoid harsh chemicals that may damage delicate fibres.
